AMAZON has just dropped the cost of an impressive-looking TV from TCL.
The 40-inch TCL SF540K smart television has been slashed from £239 and £178 and it’s proved a massive hit with shoppers.

I spotted this deal on Amazon’s best-selling TVs page: a good place to visit if you’re on the hunt for a bargain television.
Now less than £200, this 40-inch set from TCL looks like an excellent fit for smaller rooms like bedrooms, or perhaps a kitchen counter.
Most buyers these days will likely want a bigger television than this for their living room (though as I explain in my what size TV to buy guide, you shouldn’t buy an enormous TV just for its own sake: you need enough viewing distance to appreciate the screen).
The TCL SF540K actually comes with some home-grown Amazon tech in the form of the Fire TV platform: that’s the same smart interface you’ll find in the retailer’s streaming sticks.
As you’d probably expect with an Amazon smart platform, you’ve also got Alexa voice control included via a button on the mic.
This sets you up with a hub for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ and other services and apps.
The screen is Full HD rather than 4K – but that’s not a big deal at this size: Ultra HD is only standard at televisions sized 43 inches and up.
One thing I particularly like the look of is that ultra-slim bezel around the screen, always a sign of class design – honestly, it makes this TV look a lot pricier than it is.
A high-end television this certainly ain’t. But as a no-frills secondary option, or for any kids who want their own TV, the TCL looks like a superb choice.
Shoppers might also want to check out the smaller 32-inch TCL set, which has been reduced from £179 to £158.
Buyers on Amazon have given the SF540K an average rating of 4.3 out of 5.
One shopper writes: ‘I needed to replace the old telly in the guest bedroom… It’s a great piece of kit. Sound and picture quality are both great.’
‘Got this TV a few months back, [I] have been loving it,’ says another buyer. ‘[The] voice control on the remote is great. Easy parental controls, easy to download apps, and [you can] customise them on your home page.’
