PRIME DAY is in full gear, and Amazon has slashed prices on all its Kindles – but there’s only one you should go with if you’re thinking about holiday reading this summer.
I’ve handpicked the top Kindle deals from the Prime sale and matched them with their perfect users.
Shop Kindle deals from £64.99
Amazon’s sale kicked off yesterday and wraps up tonight at 11:59 PM (Wednesday, July 17th), so time’s running out to snag those savings.
Some of the hottest deals in this 48-hour event are on Amazon’s smart devices, including savings on its family of Kindle e-readers.
If you’ve been eyeing a Kindle, Prime Day is the perfect opportunity to snag one for less, with choices to fit any budget or preference.
Heads up, though: these deals are exclusive to Prime members. Not a member yet? You can still start a free 30-day trial and cash in.
But don’t dawdle; there are less than 12 hours left to shop before the sale ends.
I’ve spent plenty of time with Kindles, from the budget-friendly offerings to the top-tier models, so I’m quite familiar with these devices.
Travellers particularly appreciate these e-readers for allowing them to bring an entire library on the go, minus the weight and bulk of traditional books.
For me, there’s only one choice I’m reaching for when holiday packing: the entry-level Kindle (2022).
Keep reading to find out why and which Kindle is best for you.
Amazon Prime Day Kindle deals
Kindle (2022), £64.99 (was £84.99): Best for holiday reading
Kindle (2022), £64.99 (was £84.99)
If you’re planning a summer getaway, let’s face it, the British summer has been a total washout. The entry-level Kindle is the perfect travel companion.
It’s the most affordable option in the Kindle family, and with the Prime sale, you get a sweet 24% discount.
I got up close and personal with this little gem in my Kindle (2022) review. Sure, it’s a budget device, but that makes it perfect for travel.
Its super-light 6-inch frame slips easily into your bag without denting your luggage weight (unlike those heavy paperbacks), giving you access to a whole library for your entire trip.
Many shoppers struggle to choose between Fire tablets and Kindle, but my Fire vs. Kindle comparison made it clear: for a focused reading experience, the Kindle is still the best.
Kindle Paperwhite, £149.99 (was £179.99): Best for bedtime readers
If you love to read in bed, the Paperwhite’s features are just what you’ll want[/caption]Kindle Paperwhite, £149.99 (was £179.99)
The Paperwhite is a clear winner for those who like to read in the wee hours (myself included).
It strikes the perfect balance in the Kindle lineup, offering a little extra for those who want more from their device. Until 11:59 PM tonight, you can get it for just £149.99.
What seals the deal for me is the Ambient Light feature. I’m a huge fan of being able to adjust the warmth of the display, making it much easier on the eyes when reading in the dark.
I compared the Paperwhite to the standard Kindle, and the Paperwhite stood out, especially with that 10-week battery life versus the Kindle’s 6.
Kindle Scribe, £209.99 (was £329.99): Best for work and study
Kindle Scribe, £209.99 (was £329.99)
The final Kindle on offer in the Prime sale is the Kindle Scribe, the top-of-the-line model, which I’ve also had the chance to test out.
When I reviewed the Kindle Scribe, I was impressed by the paper-like quality of the e-ink display and realistic notetaking capabilities.
Boasting the largest display of any Kindle at 10.2 inches, it also features the adjustable warmth function found in the smaller Paperwhite.
Normally priced at just under £330, it’s the priciest option in the lineup. I wouldn’t drop that much on a Kindle Scribe, but at the current sale price of £209.99, it’s much more tempting.
There’s definitely a market for it. Book enthusiasts with a budget who want the extra features will find it a worthy investment.
It’s perfect for students or professionals looking for a versatile device to take notes in class or during their commute, while also enjoying books on a larger screen.
I’ve also compared the Scribe to the Remarkable 2, its closest competitor, and Amazon’s offering proves to be better value for money.
